I suck, this post is way late.

I went to NYC! It was awesome. Thanks to Matt for showing me around the WHOLE city. We covered just about everything on foot. Here are some highlights:

Taking the subway
Central Park (so huge)
Burger Joint (delicious hole-in-the-wall burger joint, if you call being in one of the most luxurious hotels "hole-in-the-wall")
The Empire State Building (and waiting 2 hours in line to go up)
Times Square (mostly the McDonald's there - everyone knows I love a flashy McD's)
Staten Island Ferry (love a free activity)
"OMG Jeans"

Awesome trip and a great way to spend my Easter Break.

Today while walking the streets of Milwaukee, I've had a heightened fear of being hit by a car. Is that weird? I kept picturing it happening...I found myself walking more inland (like through parks or buildings, instead of sidewalks).

The Reese’s egg has naked sides. Instead of sitting all snuggled in a cup with fluted sides to keep it protected, the Reese’s egg sits there on a little flimsy tray. And when you pull it out of its wrapper, you can see the whole thing, with no little bits and flecks lost during the unwrapping.

One of the things that’s different about the Egg is that it’s slightly skewed in the proportion of chocolate to peanut butter that we’re used to in the regular cup. Just look at how much of that is peanut butter. Reese’s peanut butter is interesting too. It’s slightly cool on the tongue and a little dry. It crumbles in the mouth and dissolves as well as melts. It has a good hit of salt, which makes the milk chocolate coating seem all the sweeter and smoother.

Gettin' Tipsy in Ypsi

So I didn't forget to write about this. I just got too busy. Blah - school.

Last weekend I went to visit Marcus in Ypsilanti, MI. My drive went very well despite the traffic through Chicago. Really it was only about 5 hours of driving (and that's with Nate's goofy Tom-Tom confusing me, causing an undesired detour). At any rate, I made it to the Eastern Michigan University campus with little troubles. I loved the little "motel village" that Marc resides in. Very welcoming.

We walked around the campus first (on our way to the bar - a necessary destination after the travels). There was a distraction on the way, and we got slightly side-tracked. Because of this, however, we discovered some amazing cookies and my eyes were open to Labatt beer, a common choice for the locals. After this we had dinner and headed to "the frat house."

The following morning we went to Ann Arbor for shopping and whatnot. We fell upon a lovely collection of tiny babies that we had to store in magnifying box for future telling. What a find... After some cupcakes and bubble tea, we were finished with Ann Arbor - until we saw a movie and came back for dinner of course.

Marc and I... Or our Bubble Tea at least...

On Sunday we drove to West Bloomfield to meet up with Marc's fam at the house. Then, before dinner we took a trip into Detroit and experienced Popeye's (or was it Church's - can't remember) chicken. Out of chicken?? What??

Anyways, fun times with great friends :-)

Really Ypsilanti? Your city's icon is a giant fallice shaped water tower?? Hehe....

Better jump on the bandwagon...

Alright...this is our state's new slogan. What do you think? I'm a fan considering the old one was: "Life's So Good." That just reminds me of those t-shirts with the little stick figure person on them, and I just hate those (sorry if you have one, I don't hate you...just your little stick figure). Also I love the person doing acrobatics over the 'S' and 'C' - so spontaneous. YES! See, we're not all beer and cheese! We also do flips and jumps and walk on our hands occasionally!

So...this morning Chris and I drove up to the mountains and spent a couple hours in Breckenridge (you know, just hot tubbing in the Rockies, nothing too serious). While we were sitting there on this gorgeous sunny day, basking in the spa, we decided ... "Life is sooo stressful."

The Mile High City

One mile above sea level and my lips were CHAPPED! Wow. Citizens of Denver may leave the house forgetting to put clothes on but rest assured, they will NOT forget their chap stick!!

Denver is gorgeous and Chris was quite possibly one of the best people to show me this (thanks Chris!). My first night there Chris had rehearsal. Being the independent person I am, I took Denver's wonderful light rail train downtown to the city. The light rail is quite a flawless and speedy form of transportation that I think Milwaukee ought to adopt. Downtown I walked the famous 16th street mall, a long stretch of shopping and entertainment. Something else that I explored was the theatre district. I loved how all the theatres were conveniently connected by a covered courtyard area. Phantom of the Opera was playing, however there was not time to see this show.

A couple other notable facts:

Denver is home to the first ever Chipotle

Denver is also hometown to Noodles & Co.

I got to watch Chris in action during his show at DU, "The Threepenny Opera"

Boulder, CO

Never have I been to a city where the people are described as "trust fund hippies." Boulder certainly lived up to its appellation.

Students at CU (University of Colorado) indeed tended to be of the hippie type it seemed. Definitely an interesting student body. I loved Boulder for its scenic setting though. The Flat Irons line the campuses horizon, which I can imagine creates a quite breathtaking educational experience!

Jason was a great tour guide and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with him in Colorado!

Yesterday I went for a walk. It became apparent to me how much undiscovered culture is in downtown Milwaukee. I love how many different landscapes there are within such a small area.

For example:

Tall buildings...my favorite!

The river...it's frozen right now.

Oh! The Public Market...mmm, fresh food!

The art museum...the best place to be meditative.

Have you ever had that feeling? Like in high school, when you throw your trash away after lunch. And just as the angle of your tray causes your waste to reach the point-of-no-return, you realize, your retainer is sitting upon the tray. Sitting there instead of upon your extremely expensive orthodontic improved teeth.

Wow I just had that feeling. Thankfully it was a false alarm.

As I enjoy this unusually pleasant 60 degrees (Fahrenheit) weather from the comfort of my desk today, I am motivated to reminisce. One beneficial reason to purchase a MacBook is to eliminate the burden of photo management. For those of you non-converters, Apple's software package iLife includes a tool appropriately and similarly titled iPhoto. This is supposed to make photo organization simple. While it's functions are quite helpful whilst viewing photos from within the application, navigating becomes not only difficult but nearly impossible in the outside world. I digress right now, because I refuse to turn this post into a review.

To the point: iPhoto keeps every single photo you upload to it in a single library file (yes, ONE file). As you can imagine, the 5,824 photos I've taken since 2004 have created quite a large file (approximately 13 GB to be exact). Long story short, after a trip to Europe back in August, iPhoto associated itself with a different library file since I was detached from the external hard disk that my default library is kept on. As I frantically searched for this old file containing years worth of photos, I couldn't shake the possibility that it had been mistakenly sent to binary heaven.

New or stupid Mac users (such as myself) be careful. You are allowed to have multiple libraries, but iPhoto may get confused (I think actually Apple designed this software to be TOO user friendly). To view a library other than the current one, all you must do is hold down the "option" key on the keyboard while clicking the iPhoto icon. This will present an option to select which library you'd like to view.

Anyway, I found the library! Wasn't that interesting? Bye!
